TECVAC, Inc. Blends Away Unsightly "Bug Holes" On Precast Concrete Columns
PatchMatchtm - A Unique Blending Of Polymer Modified Repair Materials Has Been Used To Fill "Bug Holes" On Precast Concrete Members.
Richmond, VA - TECVAC, Inc. has developed a uniqueblending of polymer modified repair materials known as PatchMatchtm that can closely harmonize a number of types of concrete repairs to the adjacent member or substrate. After an attempt to rub with cement and sand had failed to fill and adequately repair excessive surface air voids, Concrete Structures, Inc. was faced with replacing a number of erected members. TECVAC, Inc. was called upon to provide a repair.
TECVAC, Inc.'s technicians applied a Sika brand repair mortar, combined with a proprietary mix of coloring agents and cement to the sandblast finished surface. The consistency of the material was made soupy and easily scrubbed into the voids. When the infill material was fully cured, the surface was lightly abrasive blasted. This activity removed the material from the surface of the member, but more importantly, left a smooth and unnoticeable filling of the "Bug Holes".
