DETERIORATED COLUMNS RESTORED WITH TECVAC, Inc.'s PERMENEWALtm PERMEATION PROCESS

Unique Process Restores Structural Integrity To Badly Deteriorated Columns

Bethesda, MD - In-situ rehabilitation and deep sealing of concrete columns has been completed at the parking facility located at the National Navy Medical Center.

In cooperation with FDE, Ltd., Washington based structural engineers, McMullan & Associates, determined that the concrete deterioration was caused by a combination of deicing salts and freeze-thaw damage. The PermeNewaltm Permeation Injection Process was used to successfully restore integrity of the affected concrete and thus averted the need for demolition and reconstruction. The vacuum permeation method applied to the columns caused minimal disruption to the facilities and other contractors performing work at the project site.

This This is a perfect repair process where closely aligned cracks prohibit their individual repair. A solitary crew can set up and repair 800 to 1000 square feet of horizontal distress in a single shift with PermeNewaltm .

This unique and proprietary method is based upon creating a negative force in the concrete while introducing a polymer resin deep into the concrete-matrix. The resin fills the cracks, including micro cracks, down to and below 0.001 inch. In addition to the restoration and increase in structural integrity, the process also vastly decreases the susceptibility of imbedded reinforcing bars to corrosion.
